Mass Effect Can Only Be Activated 3 Times

The makers of the PC game have elected to use the same SecuROM copy protection software that was implemented on Bioshock which only allows users to activate the title three times. After the third time, you’ll be forced to phone a hotline to get the game to work.
It has also been pointed out that the game “phones home” whilst playing every ten days just to assure the activation servers that all is on the up-and-up. This, of course, means an always-on internet connection is a must to play the game uninterrupted.
