A Harry Potter Lawsuit Not Involving J.K. Rowling?

Mirchi Movies, a studio based in India, had planned on releasing their next film, Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors, on September 12. Sadly, though, it looks like that won’t happen. Warner Brothers has filed a lawsuit against the company saying that the name of the film’s protagonist too closely resembles Harry Potter.
Puttar’s plot has nothing to do with witches and wizards. It tells the story of a ten-year old Indian boy moving to Britain. To the best of my knowledge, the boy has no magical powers whatsoever.
Mirchi Movies CEO Munish Purii was quoted by IMDB’s WENN as saying, “… we registered the Hari Puttar title in 2005, and it’s unfortunate that Warner has chosen to file a case so close to our film’s release. In my opinion, I don’t think our title has any similarity or links with Harry Potter.”
Could Warner end up being as protective of the Potter franchise as George Lucas is with Star Wars? Sound off in the comments!
