Wolverine 2 Already In Talks

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

With X-Men Origins: Wolverine not even out yet really, there is already talk about a sequel.

Hugh Jackman has stated that he’s been talking with writers about a Japanese storyline. He elaborates “There are so many areas of that Japanese story. I love the idea of this kind of anarchic character, the outsider, being in this world – I can see it aesthetically, too – full of honour and tradition and customs and someone who’s really anti-all of that, and trying to negotiate his way. The idea of the samurai, too – and the tradition there. It’s really great. In the comic book he gets his ass kicked by a couple of samurai – not even mutants. He’s shocked by that at first.”

They’ll also add Logan’s love interest Mariko into the mix. Let’s just hope a sequel will actually happen, with all… … Wolverine 2 Already In Talks

Three More 80s Sequels In The Works

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

It’s been a big week in 80s sequel news.

Starting out, we have Robert Zemeckis considering a revamping of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? with all the new digital toys at his disposal. There isn’t much news as of yet, but he’s been talking about it heavily for about two years.

Next Michael Douglas is set to reprise his role as Gordon Gekko for a Wall Street sequel with Oliver Stone coming back to direct. With all that is going on with the economy right now, the storyline basically writes itself. Charlie Sheen won’t return, but Shia LaBeouf will play some kind of whippersnapper with money on his brain and gel in his hair.

Last, but certainly not least, we have a remake of Drop Dead Fred in the works. Is nothing holy? British comedic it-guy right now, Russell Brand, will play Fred in this Universal vehicle… … Three More 80s Sequels In The Works

Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound – When Sweet Sleep Returns

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Of the sub-subgenres that have bubbled to the surface of indepdent pop music in the last decade or so, the hybridization of 70s Classic Rock, 90s desert stoner sound, and alt-country garage anthem has been one of the most refreshing, while still remain comfortably familiar. This style, popularized by the likes of Black Mountain and My Morning Jacket, shows that rock can be jammy and trippy, without resorting to faux-jazz pretension or 23-minute epics (not that there’s anything wrong with either of those, unless it’s boring–I’m looking at you, Phish).

For every band like Mars Volta becoming more style than soul, there is Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound, a band that somehow imported the lonely endless nights of the Southern summer into their ocean-breezed, desert-hardened California stroner jams. Like Dead Meadow or Black Mountain, AHSS brings plenty of riffs and space-out solos, but the… … Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound – When Sweet Sleep Returns
