Stars Pay Tribute to Adventures of Pete and Pete Theme Creator
by Blake Garris ~ June 29th, 2009. Filed under: Music, TV.
You may not know Mark Mulcahy by name alone, but you probably know his band’s song “Hey Sandy” at the beginning of every episode of The Adventures of Pete and Pete and their performance while Little Pete mows the lawn.
Sadly, Mulcahy’s wife died last year, which left him to support his family as a single father on a musician’s wages. Well, stars have come out in droves for a tribute album entitled Ciao, To My Shining Star. Contributors will cover Mulcahy’s music from his days in Miracle Legion and Polaris and beyond to help him stay financially able to continue making music. Artists include Thom Yorke, Michael Stipe, Dinosaur Jr., Frank Black, Vic Chesnutt, Ben Kweller, Josh Rouse, Juliana Hatfield, Mercury Rev, Elvis Perkins, Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek) and many more. Not a bad lineup.
In semi-related news, InsulinFunk has an interview with Little Pete himself, Dan Tamberelli, all grown up, which we’ll post soon. You just have to keep visiting the site.
But back to related news, here’s the famous theme song featuring Mulcahy on lead.
