Thief Robs Billions, Gets Caught, Makes Down Payment on House

Whoever said playing games never made any money never gold-farmed or sold an online account. Even sneakier? Become a fake banker, steal all the fake money, and sell it all for real cash.
That’s what alias Ricdic pulled off in Eve Online earlier in June. The inside-man heist netted the 27-year-old Australian around 200-billion kredits, which sold for a measly £3,115 (~$5100). The total was really only around 8% of the bank’s assets, but that’s quite a chunk of cash. And the penalty for such a grab? His account was banned . . . like he wasn’t expecting that.
In fact, the robber stated, “If I had to do it again, I probably would’ve chosen the same path based on the same situation.” He did have medical bills to pay and a new house to purchase, after all. Still, I like to think of him as a nefarious bookkeep looking to retire young by skimming off the top of some criminal organization.
