Viewmaster: The Movie

So, we’ve known for a while that Battleship, Monopoly, and Candyland were all being adapted to film. Today, Fringe writer/co-producer Bob Caleb Kane revealed via his Twitter that he, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orcci are developing a film based on the Viewmaster for Dreamworks Entertainment.
According to Kane, they’re hoping to make the film reminiscent of Goonies, Young Sherlock, and other beloved Amblin Entertainment films from the 80s. How they hope to achieve this with a film based on a toy is unclear.
There’s really no one out there making quality, live-action kid’s films now like Amblin did back in the day. Hopefully, they’ll be able to recapture at least a small amount of the magic of those films.
