Friday, October 30th, 2009

Self-proclaimed Nintendo-core group Horse the Band have always been about the nerd love. They sampled The Wizard for crying out loud! Now they’ve received—by request—the biggest compliment any geek can give a band: an 8-bit remix. You can check out a rotten bit’s remix of “Horse the Song” and his other work at 8bitcollective. You can listen to the original track here.

Peter Segal Meets George Jetson

Friday, October 30th, 2009

The Jetsons film is apparently still happening, much to everyone’s chagrin. Today, Warner Bros. announced that Peter Segal, the man behind Tommy Boy and 50 First Dates, will be stepping in for Robert Rodriguez, who left the project to work on other films.

According to Cinema Blend, Rodriguez already had a script, but the WB will be scrapping it and starting fresh. Anyone think they have the ability to put together a decent introduction everyone’s favorite family from the future?

J.J. Abrams Only Producing Mission: Impossible 4

Friday, October 30th, 2009

In an interview with MTV, J.J. Abrams revealed that he’s unlikely to sit in the director’s chair for Mission: Impossible 4.

“My guess is,” he said, “given other things, that I will not be directing the movie.” Abrams’ will, as we’ve mentioned in the past, be producing the film alongside M:I 3 star Tom Cruise. Cruise has yet to announce whether or not he’ll reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in the fourth film.

While Abrams’ direction is one of the things that made M:I 3 work so well, the first two installments of the film series were also quite entertaining. As long as the project isn’t handed over to the hack, we’re sure M:I 4 will be worth seeing.

iTunes 9.0.2 Unsurpisingly Blocks Palm Pre Syncing

Friday, October 30th, 2009

It seems that Apple’s sole reason for updating iTunes these days is to prevent Palm Pre owners from being able to sync their device with the software. On Thursday, iTunes 9.0.2 was released and it appears to do little more than disable the aforementioned Palm Pre synching ability. This is the third time Apple has done such a thing.

The PC World article we sourced mentioned that Palm should give up and create their own syncing software. Do you feel this is the most viable course of action for the company or should they keep fighting the good fight?

The Who to Get Their Own Rock Band?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

The Who’s Roger Daltrey hinted in an interview with MassLive that a Who-centric version of Rock Band may eventually be released. “The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year, he said. “… Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful.”

While Daltrey didn’t mention whether the game would be a Rock Band or Guitar Hero property, a Harmonix rep mentioned to Kotaku that they were working with The Who on “what’s next,” but they didn’t detail exactly what it was they were working on.

Think The Who is worthy of their own Rock Band? If not, who would you prefer to next see get the standalone rhythm game treatment?
