St. Louis-based Design Company Sues Microsoft Over Bing

by Wesley Thomas ~ December 18th, 2009. Filed under: Tech.

Bing Information Design, a “small tech company” based in Missouri, has filed suit against Microsoft for naming their search engine Bing. According to the suit, Bing Information Design has been around for more than a decade and Microsoft knew of their existence prior to launching Bing. BID is seeking “actual and punitive” damages, along with a “corrective ad campaign” from Microsoft. Yeah, we see that happening. Microsoft, of course, believes that the “suit has no merit” and that there’s “no confusion in the marketplace.”

It would appear that Microsoft has forgotten their battle with Canadian high school senior Mike Rowe over his web design business, MikeRoweSoft. We’re guessing there wasn’t much marketplace confusing in that case either.

BING search engine is just as good as Google. In my own personal experience, Google does give more releveant search result than Bing but the difference is very small. **
