Captain America Film Possibly Put on Hold
Friday, February 26th, 2010
Remington’s Cinema, not to be confused with Remington Steele, recently had an anonymous source report that Marvel Studios’ The First Avenger: Captain America has been put on hold. The reason? Apparently the lackluster boxoffice performance of Cap director Joe Johnston’s The Wolfman has caused Marvel’s faith in him to wain. They may or may not be currently in the market for another director.
This comes on the heels of this week’s announcement that potential Caps will soon begin screen testing. Should Marvel actually be considering switching directors, screen tests will likely be delayed.

Jolie leaves Wanted sequel for Cuarón
Friday, February 26th, 2010
While major work has gone underway for another Wanted film, it seems one of the stars of the film has already left: Angelina Jolie. Jolie has moved on from the over-the-top action flick to work on another; this time, with famed Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban).
Cuarón’s project, however, may interest the ‘funk community- it’s reportedly a science fiction film titled Gravity with Jolie playing the sole character on a space mission returning home from Earth. As /Film reports, “She will be the only actor on screen for most of the movie. Oh, and did I mention that Jolie isn’t along on the ship? Jolie will also be playing her daughter.”. That may be a bit more interesting than a bullet-curving assassin, but only time will tell.
Any interest from the ‘funk community to… … Jolie leaves Wanted sequel for Cuarón
Emmerich Puts Foundation on Hold for Anonymous
Friday, February 26th, 2010
Roland Emmerich’s next film, Anonymous, is far from his usual work. In lieu of epic-scaled disasters, this film is about whether or not William Shakespeare actually wrote the plays he’s famous for. Seems a bit of an odd choice for ol’ Roland, but who are we to judge?
The cast for the film was revealed today and it’s quite impressive. Vanessa Redgrave will be Queen Elizabeth, David Thewlis as old/young William Cecil, and Rhys Ifans as the Earl of Oxford. No word on who’ll be portraying the Bard.
According to TotalFilm, Emmerich has put his CGI, 3D version of Assimov’s Foundation Trilogy on the backburner for Anonymous. Here’s hoping it takes a while to produce.

Doctor Who Memorabilia Sells Big
Thursday, February 25th, 2010
The trend of obsessive fans paying too much for television props continues. At a London auction yesterday, some crazed Doctor Who lover purchased a Dalek use in a 1985 episode of Who for £20,400, which is around $31,100 USD. A slightly newer model fetched $7,316 less at the same auction.
In addition to props, costumes from the show were up for grabs as well. A man named Jason Joiner snatched up a pair of pajamas worn by Rose (Billie Piper) in the latest revamp of the series for approximately $1,525 US. “”I bought her pyjamas because I wanted clothing from each main character,” he tells entertainment blog STv. “I won’t be wearing them.” He, however, made no comment on his plans for sniffing.

Radical Ceases Publishing Incarnate after Plagiarism Accusations
Thursday, February 25th, 2010
Nick Simmons, son of Kiss’ Gene, recently entered the world of comics with a book called Incarnate, published by Radical. After the book’s release, the younger Simmons was accused of plagiarism due to several pages of his book resembling the Japanese manga Bleach. These claims were taken quite seriously by Radical and they have now ceased distributing the book.
“We have halted further production and distribution of the Incarnate comic book and trade paperback,” reads a statement from Radical, “until the matter is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.”
Visit the Bleach Community on Livejournal for a look at pages from both books with fan critique on the similarities.
