Doctor Horrible to Hit the Big Screen?

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Apparently we’ll be seeing Doctor Horrible yet again, but on a larger scale. In an interview with MTV, the Horrible one himself, Neil Patrick Harris, mentioned that Joss Whedon & Co. plan on producing a feature length sequel to the 2008 internet series in the not-too-distant future.

“That’s their plan,” Harris said when asked about the feature.”I don’t know of what scale. They’re talking all options, because they made the first ‘Dr. Horrible’ in five days on no budget at all—that was its intention.”

In our humble opinion, bringing Dr. Horrible to the big screen will eliminate the charming, low-budget quirk of the original. Do you feel the character could successfully be adapted to the big screen?

Said creatures are looking for an amulet that will enable them to … TAKE OVER THE WORLD! Upon finding all this out, the kids band together as The Monster Squad to prevent them from their quest for control.

The film will be produced by Plantinum Dunes, which is comprised of Cohen, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form.

Sony Columbia Seeks a new Director for Ghostbuster 3

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

It seems that Sony Columbia hopes to be callin’ someone other than Ivan Reitman to direct Ghostbusters 3. According to Total Film, the studio wishes to enlist a “younger, hipper” director to lure in a new audience, which they hope will be equally young and hip. Here is where the plot thickens!

Thanks to some excellent butt-covering legal documents, Reitman, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray have the final say on what Ghostbusters 3 actually is. So, if Reitman doesn’t wish to hand the project off to another, he could easily have it shelved.

Given Reitman’s recent efforts, allowing someone else to take the reins might not be such a bad idea. Agree? Disagree? Tell us below.

Gandalf Says The Hobbit Begins Shooting in June

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

According to Ian “Gandalf” Mckellan himself, Guillermo del Toro’s The Hobbit begins shooting this June.

THE HOBBIT’s, two films, start shooting in New Zealand in June,” says the bearded one on his website. “Filming will take over a year. …The first draft is crammed with old and new friends, again on a quest in Middle Earth. The director Guillermo del Toro is now living in Wellington, close to the Jacksons’ and the studio in Miramar.”

All signs seem to indicate that this film will be a 3D affair, which is a bit disheartening. Hopefully whatever digital avenues they travel upon produce results as natural as those Jackson utilized in LOTR.

Rodriguez Talks New Spy Kids Film

During a press conference at South By Southwest to promote Predators, director Robert Rodriguez made mention that he’d just turned in a new Spy Kids script to The Weinstein Company. It’s a reboot that will involve an all new family (no Antonio?!?). It will apparently be gritty and realistic; he called it ‘the Casino Royale” of the Spy Kids franchise.

Think Rodriguez will be able to deliver a gritty, realistic film about tween spies taking on a global threat?
