SecureMac.com has issued a security advisory for users of Apple’s OSX. The site discovered “multiple variants” of a Trojan horse in the wild that affects users of OS 10.4 and 10.5. The Trojan was first discovered on a hacking website which included instructions on how to distribute it via iChat and Limewire. Okay, nerds, here’s some info that you’ll appreciate:

Thought Comcast throttling your Bit Torrent was bad? Now the MPAA wants to keep your DVRs from being able to record certain films. The odd thing is, DVRs can only record and save programming on broadcast television, not Pay Per View.

Canada’s Paper Bag Records will launch a digital store later this month and offer Sally Shapiro’s Remix Romance Vol. 2 on June 17th, 2008 as its inaugural release. Two professors and a student at the University of Washington have released a study called Why My Printer Received a DMCA Takedown Notice. As part of their research, they monitored BitTorrent networks using a specific client to monitor traffic. Nothing was uploaded, nor was it download, but, they received over 400 takedown requests accusing them of piracy. The tech gossip mavens at Techdirt.com are reporting that several Dell owners have discovered their default laptop sound configuration blocks the recording of audio. This, of course, led to speculation that the computer company caved to pressure from the RIAA to cripple their hardware’s ability to perform certain sound related tasks. However, the ability to record is easily reinstated with a few minor tweaks.
