Who Will Be The Doctor’s Next Companion?

Monday, January 5th, 2009

As we mentioned on Saturday, David Tennant’s Doctor will regenerate into the little-known Matt Smith in a Doctor Who special set to air later this year. He will step into the role full time with the series resumes in 2010. This, of course, sparked outrage amongst many longtime fans of the program. Complaints of his age, lack of experience, and even his neck length have all surfaced on various message boards. Pathetic, no?

The BBC is now searching for a companion for the next Doctor. Kelly Brook, Rachel Stevens, and singer Lily Allen have all been mentioned as persons of interest. The later two are both singers which is no surprise. If you’ll remember, Billie Piper (aka Rose Tyler) also spent some time behind he mic performing… Continue reading Who Will Be The Doctor’s Next Companion?

Matt Smith is the Next Doctor

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

Matt Smith, best known for his work in BBC’s Party Animals, has been officially named as David Tennant’s replacement in Doctor Who. At 26, he’s the youngest actor to take on the role.

“I’m flabbergasted. I haven’t slept really,” Smith said of his casting. “[Doctor Who] is an iconic part of our culture, and now I’m taking that on. It’s nerve wracking. Exciting. Exciting.”

Tennant will appear in four more hour-long specials. At the end of the last, he will, of course, regenerate into Smith. The next full season of the series will begin in 2010.

EW Gifts Us With Exclusive Dollhouse Sneak Peek

Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello posted an exclusive clip from the forthcoming premiere episode of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse. In the clip, Eliza Dushku’s entire persona is erased through a futuristic Lay-z-boy of some sort. This, of course, sets up the show’s plot which deals with a group of females that can be imprinted with any personality.

The show debuts in February 13, 2009 on Fox and will be canceled sometime during the month of April.

Game Journalism Hypocrisy IV, Rise of the Prostitute Expansion, Game of the Year Edition

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Game Informer for January 2009. Page 12. There’s a small box in Game Informer’s monthly installment The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. It’s (old news) about Activision-Blizzard dropping Vivendi title Ghostbusters because of the Intellectual Property’s (IP) lack of continuous exploitability.

Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters! This is the game that’s supposed to be the Ghostbusters III we never got. Dan Aykroyd is writing the storyline, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson are giving their voices. This is a big deal in the nerd community…And Activision dropped it.

Activision, what a whore, right? You’ve heard it from magazines, from your indie podcasts, from your snarky bloggers. They’re the new E.A., pumping out crappy sequel after sequel, like an evil factory from the 20’s. Journalists, who are sitting on the pulse… Continue reading Game Journalism Hypocrisy IV, Rise of the Prostitute Expansion, Game of the Year Edition
