Rumors are currently being bandied about that Chicago-based rapper Lupe Fiasco is fronting a British indie-rock band called Japanese Cartoon. The band has denied this via a recently posted MySpace Bulletin but does admit that he 'finances' the band. ...

Walmart announced on Friday that it would soon begin selling Apple’s iPhone. Sadly, though, it won’t be priced as low as some expected. A Reuters article mentions that they’ll sell the “black 8-gigabyte iPhone 3G model, which also holds about 2,000 songs, for $197. The 16-gigabyte model, in black or white, will be priced at $297″. Each phone requires a
Some speculate that Sony will soon drop the price of the Playstation 3 as the company managed to drop the cost of making the units by 35%. Evil Avatar reports that the company now spends $448.73 per unit in lieu of the previous rate of $690.23. No hints have been dropped about a possible decrease in the cost to consumers but one seems logical.
How ’bout it, Sony holdouts? How low would a Playstation 3 have to be priced before you took the plunge? Sound off in the comments.
Yes, kids, list season is upon us once again. Several sites, including us, have posted some already. Today Amazon.com joins the party with the release of their top products of 2008. Excerpts of the list appear below with commentary from yours truly.
Books: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (The Twilight Saga, Book 4) Wes -I weep for you America! Matt - Disappointed to find out that it did not feature a character named Dawn. Also, Bella dies at the end! Just kidding. Maybe. Wes - My sister suffered many Miami Vice jokes due to her name being Dawn Johnson. Most people ’round these parts pronounced it Don, of course, which enhanced the local yokel’s joke-making abilities. I think she may have only married to make it all stop.
Los Angeles Judge Gary Feess gave Fox an excellent Christmas gift. On December 24, the Judge ruled that they do indeed own a “copyright interest” in Warner’s film adaptation of the Watchmen. This came as quite a shock to all parties involved as the judge had originally delayed the trial until January.
“Fox owns a copyright interest consisting of, at the very least, the right to distribute the ‘Watchmen’ motion picture,” says the official ruling.
Judge Feess has encouraged both parties to get together and work out some sort of solution to their problems.
Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz spoke with Fancast.com in regards to his baby making its way to the big screen. All things looked fantastic for the film, however, it looks as though Michael Cera is having doubts about reprising his role from the series.
“I don’t want to talk about who is holding out right now because we might still work that out and I don’t want to pressure anyone through the press,” said Hurwitz. “Although I will say that Will Arnett is gung-ho, so there’s a big clue!”
This would be a bummer, indeed. You can’t have Arrested Development without George Michael. Of course, since he’s played George Michael-esque characters in all his subsequent work perhaps he has grown tired of the persona. Yes, the day we’ve all been waiting for will soon be here. Notorious, the biopic of rapper Notorious B.I.G., will debut in American theaters on January 13. According to MTV, a “star-studded” soundrack will be available for purchase that same day. You may view a 3 minute clip from the film after the jump.
Little-known rapper Jamal Woolard won the role of Biggie after an open casting call. He, much like myself, suffers from Type-2 diabetes. In order to accurately portray Biggie, Woolard’s weight reportedly increased to 340 lbs. while filming. “I was just pigging out,” Woolard told Rolling Stone. “My doctor told me, ‘You really are ready to die.’” Does that qualify as not keepin’ it real or frontin’?
Odds are things will be fairly dead around here until Monday. We will of course be celebrating the holiday of Christmas with our loved ones. Well, some of us … I’m trapped in the library until 1 pm. ACK!
